SUBJECT: LIVING (?) WITHOUT GOD"S LAW

"Was it not the Lord...against Whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, nor were they obedient to His law. Therefore, He has poured out on him the fury of His anger..." (Isaiah 42:24-25)

Last time we saw what happens to nations that "forget God" (they are "turned into hell"). This time we focus our attention on what happens to people who ignore and even trash His righteous standards. Regarding the above scriptures, the following comments (which appeared in R.C. Sproul's publication Tabletalk* in July, 1999) warn us where we are heading as a nation and as a Church as we deliberately choose NOT to walk in His ways or obey His Laws:

"The majesty of God's law has been greatly lost to many Christians today. It probably will continue to be ignored and forsaken until a day comes when it is completely gone from our nation and we are forced to live by the capricious laws of men or by the tyranny of a dictator. We are already seeing something of this today, where the rule of law is supplanted by the whims of men. Only after living under such tyranny will we see the life, the glory, the majesty, and the goodness of God's law. Only after living without its justice will we realize how much we need it to have freedom and peace. Then, with tears in our eyes, we will listen to the law again and love it."

PLEASE JOIN WITH ME IN AGREEING PRAYER:**

"Lord, we confess to You that The United States of America and much of the Christian Church hates and despises Your Law. We do not want You to rule over us; rather, we prefer the humanistic, anti-Christ State to be our lord and savior. Tyranny is at the door and we are saying, 'Welcome, come in and take over; just keep us in our worldly lusts and pleasures and you can do whatever you want to us.'

"Lord, help! Have mercy! Make us desperate or we will not cry out to You and seek Your Laws and Your face. We must repent and turn from our wicked ways, but we cannot if You do not open our eyes and grant us the gifts of godly sorrow and repentance.

"O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act (see Dan. 9:19). Without Your intervention we have no hope! We pray this in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen."
