![]() "Let everyone who is Godly pray to you while you may be found" (Psalm 32:6) September 28, 2000 BORN-ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT: WILL SENATE TAKE UP & PASS BILL? Overview: On Tuesday, September 26, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act (HR 4292) by a vote of 380 to 15. Only two Republicans voted against the bill, Rep. Nancy Johnson (CT) and Rep. Benjamin Gilman (NY). Rep. Charles Canady (R-FL) sponsored the bill that requires doctors to give babies born alive, even during a failed abortion, the same care and protection as other babies. Canady stated, This simple but critical piece of legislation is designed to ensure that all infants who have been born alive are treated as persons who are entitled to the protections of federal law, and to repudiate recent judicial expansions of the right to abortion that place such infants in increasing jeopardy. This legislation is intended to bring clarity after the Supreme Court earlier this year overturned a Nebraska statute banning partial-birth abortion. Syndicated columnist John Leo recently wrote: All the more reason to draw the brightest line possible between abortion and homicide. The bill is just that you canít kill babies. Canít both sides of the abortion dispute agree on that? This summer, nurses gave a gruesome testimony before the House Judiciary Committee that infants born alive during late-term abortions are routinely set aside until they die. As of this writing, Pro-life Senators have not yet shown any interest in taking up this bill. For more information on the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act

All, we will praise You! We are all FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY
MADE (Ps 139:14). Yet, we must repent for this nation. This nation
has disregarded the sanctity of life (Neh 9:27-30; Dan 9:3-19).
