LEADERS
MARCH ON TOWARD U.N. WORLD GOVERNMENT!
"The kings of the earth
set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against
the LORD and against His Anointed...He who sits in the heavens
shall laugh; The LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall
speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:
"Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion" (Ps
2:2-6).
- Overview:
The largest-ever assembly of world leaders, a reported 155 heads
of state, opened a "Millennium Summit" at the UN's
New York City headquarters Wednesday, hoping both to improve
the organi-za--tion's tarnished image and to further advance
thinly veiled long-term plans for world government.
- The agenda includes expanding
"peace-keeping" (military) operations, enlargement
of the Security Council and reduction of its veto powers, nuclear
weapons and trafficking of small arms, debt relief for developing
nations, gender equality, ratifying treaties (International Criminal
Court, landmines, global warming, biological diversity, rights
of the child, biological diversity, desertification, children
in armed conflict, terrorism, and a world conference on terrorism).
Of special concern is the "Earth Charter." It will
create, in the name of environmental protection, an international
commission with vast powers to intrude into and control every
nation.
- President Clinton, in
light of failure in Bosnia, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Indonesia,
and elsewhere, called for better training, equipment and leadership
for UN troops and for quicker, more effective deployments, saying,
"all nations, including the United States, must pay for
it." In August, his administration welcomed a 58-page UN
report urging, effectively, a standing UN Army.
- Clinton also urged assembled
leaders to learn to accept "compromise" in our increasingly
"interde-pen-dent" world. He met separately with Israeli
Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
During his own speech, Arafat made remarks some interpret as
backing away from his vow to unilaterally declare a Palestinian
State on September 13.
- UN-allied non-governmental
organizations (NGOs), many of them government subsidized, regularly
pressure Congress to implement the UN agenda. Last May, 13,500
representatives from 1000+ such NGOs created "We the Peoples
Millennium Forum Declaration and Agenda for Action: Strengthening
the United Nations for the 21st Century." This scary document
calls for increased world government, more funds for "peacekeeping"
(world army), international gun control, environmentalism, feminism,
abortion, homosexuality, socialist redistribution of wealth,
and global taxation to support the UN and world socialism, etc.
(see http://www.millenniumforum.org/html/papers/mfd26May.htm )
- Last week, 1000 clergymen
from scores of diverse world religions convened for the "World
Peace Summit," with a mission to establish a permanent UN
religious advisory council. But they failed. The event, dominated
by Hindu and Jaina clerics, had only a token presence of Muslims
and Christians. Intentionally excluded from the gathering were
Southern Baptists, the National Association of Evangelicals,
and the Dalai Lama (because of pressure from the Red Chinese).
The closing day, during a session on conflict resolution, a shoving
match broke out! It took six security guards to break up what
one witness called "a rugby scrum of mostly Far-Eastern
clerics."
This summit is simply another step in a plan to divest the United
States of its sovereignty and to subject it, eventually, to socialist
world rule.
