A Florida Judge has
extended Terri Schiavo's stay
[Editor's Note: A Florida Judge has
extended Terri Schiavo's stay until this Friday, February 25th.
Please read the following from our friends at Faith and Action, then pray and respond.]
Dear Friend of
Faith and Action,
Your missionary to Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., Rob Schenck,
reporting:
Yesterday I appealed to you--in perhaps the most important
E-mail I have ever sent--to help save the life of Terri Schindler
Schiavo--the young woman who lay helpless in a hospice bed in
Florida. Yesterday afternoon, my brother, Paul and I, together
with Rev. Pat Mahoney, who has been leading the charge for us
in this mission of mercy, spent more than an hour on a conference
call with Christian leaders from around the country praying and
planning what to do next. Terri's parents are praising God today
for answering their prayers after a judge issued an 11th-hour
stay prohibiting the starvation and dehydration from beginning
until after 5:00 p.m. today. We're praising God too, because
this gives us another 12 hours to work!
As I said yesterday, it would be enough if this involved only
saving one woman's life, but it is so much larger than even that!
Terri represents every single American's last thread of the constitutionally
protected Right to Life. If Terri is thirsted and starved to
death over the next several days, with her, will die something
precious to all of us--the recognition of our absolute Right
to life, placed first in the list of "inalienable"
rights given to us by our "Creator" and enumerated
by the American Founders in the Declaration of Independence.
Should that First Right fall, the rest will go like so many dominoes.
Please pray for Terri today, for her loving parents and for us,
as we work together feverishly to save her and our Right to Life
throughout the hours that we have left.
Please help us! Here's what you can do in the critical
hours we have left:
1) Pray for Terri, her family,
her legal team and for us as we work behind the scenes with Florida
legislators, Governor Bush and religious leaders throughout Florida.
2) Give a tax-deductible gift
of just $25 to keep Rev. Mahoney on the ground in Florida and
buy hundreds of red roses that will symbolize Terri's fragile
fate. The roses will be hand-delivered to the Florida legislature
and will lay neglected; as these flowers wilt, lose their pedals
and eventually die, it will remind lawmakers that by their neglect,
Terri's hope--and all of ours--will fade and die, too.
3) Be prepared to travel to Florida
at a moment's notice to join us in prayer vigils at the Florida
State House in Tallahassee and at the hospice in Clearwater where
Terri is scheduled to die.
Click here now to make your tax-deductible contribution
of just $25.
I have attached below my E-mail of yesterday in case you missed
it. I'm asking you to circulate both this note and yesterday's
so that as many people as possible can join us in this great
army of compassion.
THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE YOU CAN DO TODAY: If you live
in Florida, or you know someone in Florida--it is absolutely
critical that we ring the phones of Florida lawmakers off the
hook!
The last time this was done, the legislature acted swiftly
to protect Terri's life and preserve the guaranteed Right to
Life for all Americans. Please, pass this message along to
someone in Florida! There is still time for Governor Bush
and the leaders of the House and Senate to call a special session
to pass a law again that will save Terri and all of us!
Your family and friends can find the name and telephone number
of their lawmakers by visiting http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/myrepresentative.aspx
and http://www.flsenate.gov/Welcome/index.cfm.
Tell your legislator to save Terri and every American citizen
by passing a law NOW!
Once again, I appeal to you: Please help NOW. Click here to begin with your gift
and message of moral support for the family.
Then, please, circulate these two messages to every family member,
friend, fellow church member and conscientious American you know!
It is late for Terri and for our constitutionally protected rights--BUT,
IT'S NOT TOO LATE!
Thank you for standing--and kneeling--with us, and, more importantly,
with Terri!

Rev. Rob Schenck
