The Culture Wars Continue #3
God Will Defeat
the Persecutors - If We Pray
Do not keep silent, O God! Do not
hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! For behold, Your
enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up
their head (Ps 83:1-2).
- DC Court to Consider
Suit to Prevent Prayer at Bush Inaugural
A California atheist's lawsuit to prevent Christian
clergymen from offering prayer at Presidential Inaugurations
will be heard by the U.S. District Court for the District of
Columbia on Thursday, January 13. The suit was brought by Dr.
Michael Newdow known for his failed effort to persuade the U.S.
Supreme Court to remove "under God" from the Pledge
of Allegiance (see www.washingtontimes.com/national/20050110-095925-1503r.htm
).
- "Crosses"
Banned in Inaugural Parade
The U.S. Secret Service has notified Rev. Patrick
Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition (CDC), "crosses"
at the Presidential Inauguration Parade on January 20th are banned.
The CDC calls the banning of "crosses" religious discrimination
and censorship in its worst form. Rev. Mahoney stated, "This
situation [could] be settled simply by the Secret Service prohibiting
all structures made of wood or metal and not having to discriminate
against the most sacred symbol of the Christian faith" (see
http://www.earnedmedia.org/cdc0111b.htm ).
- Philadelphia Street
Preachers Face 47 Years for "Hate Crimes"
Four Christian street preachers, arrested in Philadelphia
as they preached against sodomy at an outdoor homosexual rights
event, will be arraigned today (www.washingtontimes.com/national/20050110-095925-2563r.htm).
If convicted, each faces up to 47 years in prison from three
felony charges: criminal conspiracy, inciting to riot and "ethnic
intimidation" (sexual orientation is equivalent to ethnicity
in the Hate Crimes statute). They also face fines for numerous
misdemeanor charges. Their Christian lawyer says this is "the
most profound abuse of power I've ever seen."
- Atheist activists, the ACLU, and many others are driven and
determined to eradicate America's Christian heritage and supplant
it with an anti-Christ culture that persecutes Christians, especially
those who dare obey Christ's command to "preach the gospel
to every creature." It was a frivolous
lawsuit by atheist Madeline Murray O'Hair that led to the historic
1963 Supreme Court decision removing prayer from public schools.
- Please Join Us in Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You see the
heathen rage. NULLIFY each of these antichrist efforts. PROTECT
& VINDICATE your people. MERCIFULLY PRESERVE the Constitutional
Liberties our forefathers gave their lives to guarantee (Ps 7:
all; 35:24-27; 43:1-5; Acts 4:25-31; Gal 5:1).
