NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, MAY 6 Intense Spiritual warfare and oppression are the norm on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. Yet on the National Day of Prayer each year, there is a discernable difference. The peace of God settles upon the Hill as praying Christians converge here to offer up prayers of repentance, supplication and thanksgiving to God for America. The organizers of the National Day of Prayer (www.nationaldayofprayer.org) are asking believers everywhere to pray a simple Prayer for the Nation at noon on May 6 wherever they may be as a simple sign of unity. Dr. Barry Black, the fiery new Chaplain of the United States Senate, is calling on Christians to pray for Christian revival in both Houses of the U.S. Congress. He authored the following "Prayer for the Nation." Gracious God, You have been good to us beyond our deserving, making our Nation a land of liberty. Help us to protect our freedoms with diligence and integrity. Lord, bless our military as it advances freedoms cause around the world. Bless also the institutions of power and influence in our society the government, the churches, the media, the schools and the families. May each bring glory to Your Name. Forgive us when we stray from right paths. We place our trust in You, O Lord, believing that Your hand will sustain America. Let no shadows obscure the pathways which we should tread. We pray in Your Holy Name. Amen. God bless you. (See http://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/articles/A0000043.html) |
