The Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) supported by President Bush defines marriage as a "union between a man and a woman." But experts, including its author, Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), say the FMA will not prohibit homosexual "civil unions" - "marriages" in everything but name.

•  Beginning May 17, the legal status of marriage will be thrown into chaos across America when the first "legally" married homosexuals in Massachusetts seek recognition in other states and file lawsuits to overturn state and federal Defense of Marriage (DOMA) laws.
• Constitutional attorney Mike Farris warns that the FMA was intended to permit "legislatively enacted civil unions" and will not stop "courts from imposing civil unions by judicial fiat" (see www.hslda.org/elink.asp?ID=1332).
•  Farris asks why "all the hard work it is going to take to pass a constitutional amendment if we are going to open the door for civil unions?" Same-sex relationships will "be legally and morally valid all over this nation even after the Musgrave text is ratified."
• William Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition warns that legal "civil unions" cannot be withheld from heterosexuals who "shack up together." Over time "civil unions" could surpass marriage as the preferred arrangement (see http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2004/012004/01182004/1190941).

Most Americans oppose both same-sex marriage and "civil unions." Yet politicians are intimidated by the activist homosexual lobby. Democrats are devoted to the homosexual agenda. Republicans are generally opposed, but lack the will to stop it.

Unless Bible-believing Christians arise to demand that their elected representatives pass a marriage amendment with substance, America will suffer the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah (Jude 5-15).
