Rev. Pat Mahoney, Director of the Washington-based Christian Defense Coalition and close friend of The Capitol Hill Prayer Alert is asking believers across America to be on call to join him in Montgomery, Alabama for a civil rights era-style pray-in to prevent authorities from removing a Ten Commandments Memorial from the Rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building (see www.prayeralert.org/judge/index.html ).

• The 11th Federal Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on July 1 that the Ten Commandments memorial display, erected by Judge Roy Moore two years ago, is unconstitutional. A lower court judge is expected to issue Moore a deadline to remove the memorial any day.
  
  
• Judge Moore, popularly elected Chief Justice of Alabama's Supreme Court, plans to appeal his case to the U.S. Supreme Court. He says, "Federal district courts have no jurisdiction or authority to prohibit the acknowledgment of God that is specifically recognized in the Constitution of Alabama."
  
  
• If Moore ignores the order to remove the display, enforcement will fall to Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Bush Department of Justice.
  
  
• Rev. Mahoney believes the recent swath of bizarre anti-Christian, anti-family U.S. court rulings is just the beginning; public assault against Christianity in America will escalate at a rate so dizzying as to astonish even the most ardent activists, and every genuine Christian must be prepared to obey God by civil disobedience, if necessary.

God has given the Church in America time to Repent and take the evangelistic and political action needed to turn our nation back to God since the ruling on Roe v. Wade thirty years ago. Instead, we haveabsorbed the evils of our fast disintegrating culture. God may be giving pastors, leaders, intercessors, activists and other Christians only small window of opportunity to act before salvaging our nation becomes impossible. If we fail, our grandchildren could face persecution akin to that faced by believers during the darkest days of Christian history.
