Last week the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 (PBABA) by a vote of 282-139. Differences between the House and Senate version must now be worked out in conference committee.

• Pro-abort activists fear PBABA could be "the beginning of the end" for Roe v. Wade
  
• "To protect women and doctors" the ACLU & others plan to challenge the law (see http://www.aclu.org/ReproductiveRights/ReproductiveRights.cfm?ID=12816&c=143 ).
  
• The ACLU contends PBABA is no different from the Nebraska ban struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court in STENBERG v. CARHART three years ago. That law was ruled too broad, too restrictive, and lacked a health exception.
  
• Similar bans have been enacted in 31 states, but only ten have survived the courts.
  
• According to the Guttmacher Institute, partial birth abortions have tripled in the past four years
  
• The Senate version has an amendment by Senator TomHarkin (D-IA) supporting Roe v. Wade as "an appropriate decision [that] secures an important constitutional right; andshould not be overturned." This language must be expunged in the Conference Committee,

President Bush is eager to sign this bill. But only prevailing prayer will shepherd it safely through the courts. Prevailing prayer, too, will break the back of the Democrat efforts to block confirmation of judges who, by God's grace, will one day reverse Roe v. Wade

·  Lord, THANK YOU for the passage of PBABA. Now Lord, PURIFY the bill in conference & PROTECT it from wicked judges (Ex 18:21-22a; Dt 32:17; Is 33:22).

. Grant PBABA to become WHAT THE PRO-ABORTS FEAR: the "beginning of the end for Roe v. Wade" (Job 3:25; Lk 1:65; Acts 2:43; 19:17; Pr 28:1).

·    Grant a WHOLESALE CLEANSING of our Federal Courts. PROMOTE Judges & Supreme Court Justices who will judge righteously & PROTECT the innocent as You have commanded! In Jesus' Name, AMEN (Ex 23:7; 2 Ki 24:3; 24:4; Lev 19:15; Dt 1:16-20; Pr 17:15).
